-----------------------------
A Nicholas Edwards (43) of England, miller, and his wife Elizabeth (54) of England, appear in the 1850 Census for Schroon, Essex, New York, USA. Children listed are the same as those for Nicholas & Elizabeth in the 1841 UK Census: Mary J. (23), Martha M. (21), Elizabeth (20), Catharine (19), Richard (17), laborer, James (15). The ages are somewhat approximate in this Census. The 1850 Census doesn't indicate whether any of the children were married, noting that daughters Martha Matilda and Catherine were married in Camborne, Cornwall in 1847 and 1851 respectively. Children Mary Jane, Richard and James also appear in the 1851 UK Census for Camborne, Cornwall. Unless some of the children returned to Cornwall the following year, one suspects Nicholas simply supplied the names of his children, irrespective of whether or not they were present.
Marriage Information:
Nicholas married Elizabeth HALL, daughter of Richard HALL and Mary, on 25 Dec 1823 in Madron, Cornwall. (Elizabeth HALL was christened on 2 Dec 1804 in Madron, Cornwall.)
