  Research Notes:

Comte de Joigny. "Willelmus comes Joviniaci" granted fishing rights to Pontigny, later approved by "uxor mea Aalait et frater meus Gaucherius”, by charter dated [18 Sep 1180/24 Mar 1181]. "Willelmus comes Joigniaci" recognised the rights of the abbey of Saint-Julien d'Auxerre, in memory of "Regnaudus pater meus", by charter dated 1210.

The necrology of Sens cathedral records the death "X Kal Jan" of "Guillelmus comes Joveigniaci". 2

  Marriage Information:

Guillaume married Alice (Alix) DE COURTENAY Comtesse d' Angoulême, daughter of Pierre DE FRANCE, Seigneur de Courtenay, and Elizabeth DE COURTENAY, about 1178. The marriage ended in divorce in 1186. (Alix DE COURTENAY was born between 1160 and 1165 in Courtenay, Gatinais, Isle-de-France, France and died on12 Feb 1218.
