In 1861, Mary Bate (30) of Camborne, dressmaker, was living in Cross St., Camborne. Her sisters Elizabeth and Julia were with her.
In 1871, Mary Bate (40) was with her parents in Camborne.
Hereafter, Mary Bates progressively understates her age at each Census.
In 1881, Mary Bate (46) [sic] of Camborne, dressmaker, was living in 13 Chapel St., Camborne. Present were widowed mother Mary Bate and niece Mary A. Blewett.
In 1891, Mary Bate (55) [sic] of Camborne, was staying with [her widowed brother-in-law] John Blewett in Tolcarne, Camborne.
In 1901, Mary Bate (62) [sic] of Camborne, living on her own means, in Camborne.
Probably the same Mary Bate who died during the 2nd Quarter of 1901 in the Redruth district (of which Camborne is part), her age given as 68 which, not surprisingly, is incorrect.
