---------------------------

Curiously, in 1881, Elizabeth Cunningham (18) of Tarbolton, was staying with William and Elizabeth Faint at 491 Keppochhill Rd., Glasgow Maryhill in Lanarkshire. In this Census she is referred to as their daughter. Elizabeth's eldest (presumably half-) brother Adam Guthrie Cunningham was the son of Adam Cunningham and Elizabeth Guthrie of Joppa by Coylton, and Elizabeth Guthrie married William Faint in 1871 in Tarbolton. At first glance it would seem that Elizabeth was Adam's full rather than half-sister, but since Elizabeth was born in Tarbolton rather than Coylton, it is more likely that she was simply visiting or staying and the Census taker has recorded her as a daughter of William and Elizabeth Faint, being as she was, sister of Adam Jr. However, this is all confused by the fact that Elisabeth's birth entry in the Tarbolton Register calls her a daughter of Adam Cunningham and Isabella Cowan; and her marriage information indicates her reputed father to be Adam Cunningham and her mother Elizabeth Guthrie. Go figure!
