* Born Ethel Ellis H. Magrow in 1875, she married James Blackman on 23 Dec 1900 in Chudleigh, Devon. In the register she calls herself daughter of Henry Magrow, coast guard. If she was in fact Henry's granddaughter, then she may have been a natural-born daughter of one of Henry's elder daughters.
In 1891, Henry Magrowe (67) of Dartmouth Devon, retired chief boatman, and Jane (66) of Parksone Dorset, were living at 27 Victoria Park (shop) Tormoham, Newton Abbot, Devon. Present was granddaughter Edith Jackman (5) of Barton Underwood Staffordshire.
