In 1851, Mathew Trewhella (72) of Towednack, farmer of 100 acres employing 2 men and 1 boy, and wife Martha (70) of St. Ives, were living in Churchtown, Phillack. Present were children (born in Towednack, unmarried): Christopher (39), Margret (27).

Matthew married Martha DANIEL, daughter of John DANIEL and Margaret STEVENS, on 2 Aug 1801 in Towednack, Cornwall. (Martha DANIEL was born in 1781 in St. Ives, Cornwall, christened on 3 Oct 1781 in St. Ives, Cornwall and was buried on 15 Nov 1853 in Phillack, Cornwall.)
