An Eliza Lye was christened in Ramsbury Wiltshire on 12 Nov 1794, daughter of William Lye and Mary. Note that at Eliza's wedding to Richard Bradford, two of those present were William Lye and Mary Lye, though these may have been siblings or a brother and his spouse. There is no record in the Ramsbury parish register of another Eliza Lye born between 1794 and 1810. If 1794 was in fact the year of Eliza's birth then, rather than 78, she would have been about 83 years old, and if so, then she or her husband consistently understated her age throughout the censuses.
