Erard III DE BRÉTEUIL

Beatrix DE COUCY 1

  • Married:
  • Died: After 1156

  Research Notes:

The Annales Lobienses refer to the two daughters of "Thomam de Marla" & his wife, specifying that one (unnamed, mentioned second) married "Evrardus de Bretullie" by whom she was mother of "Evrardum et Gualerannum cum aliis". The Chronicle of Alberic de Trois-Fontaines refers to the other of the two daughters of "Thomam de Cocy" as the husband was "Everardus de Bretulio".

"Ebrardus Britulensium dominus" names his wife Beatrix and his sons “Galeran et Ebrard” in a charter in favour of Charlis abbey. Pope Lucius II ordered an enquiry into the consanguinity between “Ebrardus de Britolio”, who had just returned from Jerusalem, and “filiam...Thomæ de Marna”, presumably with a view to regularising Erard’s second marriage, dated 16 Jun 1144. 2

  Marriage Information:

Beatrix married Erard III DE BRÉTEUIL, son of Valeran II DE BRÉTEUIL and Yvette. (Erard III DE BRÉTEUIL died on 19 Jan 1147/8 at the Battle of Laodicea.)
