Shown in a number of secondary sources (including Burke's Peerage) as Hawisa de Bretagne, daughter of Alain IV, Duke of Brittany, and his second wife Ermengarde d'Anjou. Said Hawise married Baudouin VII, Count of Flanders in 1110. The couple were separated on the grounds of consanguinity. Whether or not Hawise remarried to Geoffroy de Porhoet thereafter has yet to be proven.
