The Annales Londonienses name "Margarete countesse de Ferreres et Eleyne la Zusche et la countesse de Bougham" as the three daughters of "Eleyn countesse de Wynton", naming "Roger la Zusche" as son of "Eleyne la Zusche" and "de Roger, Aleyn". A charter dated 3 Dec 1274 records the homage of "Elena la Zusche another daughter and heir of Roger [de Quency earl of Wynton]" for her part of the lands "lately held in dower by Alianora de Vaux late countess of Wynton widow of the said Roger".

Inquisitions after a writ 20 Aug "24 Edw I", following the death of "Elena la Zousche...", name “Alan la Suches [...son of Sir Roger de la Suche] aged 24 [...and more...aged 28 at the feast of St. Giles last] is her next heir” and record “Oliver la Suches” doing the service of 1 knight in Disard, Strahon and Lokeris, Fifeshire. 1

FIFE. Inq. made at Berwyck on Monday after St. Bartholomew, 24 Edw. I.

Disard and Strahon. A third part of the lands of Disard and Strahon, held of the king in chief; and the free service of Roger de Schazawy, and a third part of 1/2 mark of assised rent from him.
Alan la Suches, aged 24, is her next heir, and he has done homage to the king for the above lands and others which he holds in Scotland by doing homage for the land aforesaid.
Oliver la Suches does a third part of the service of one knight for the aforesaid lands and the land of Lokeris.

Hausho. The manor (extent given) held of the king in chief by service of 1/2 knight’s fee.
Brackele. The township (extent given), pertaining to the manor aforesaid, out of which 6l. 13s. 4d. are paid to the prior of Brackele. And there is there a foreign court called the honour of Wyncestre.

14 Oct 1296, Kirkham

To Malcolm de Harlegh, escheator beyond Trent. Order to cause Alan la Zousche to have seisin of the lands whereof Ellen la Zousche was seised in her demesne as of fee at her death, as the king learns by an inquisition taken by the escheator that Ellen at her death held divers lands of the king in chief, and that Alan is her next heir* and is of full age, and the king has rendered them to Alan, wishing to show him special favour as he is staying in Gascony in the king's service. It is provided that Alan when he returns to England shall come to the king to do homage for the said lands and to pay his relief.

Ellen married Alan II LA ZOUCHE, Lord of Ashby, son of Roger LA ZOUCHE, Lord of Ashby, and Margaret BISET, Heiress of North Tidworth, before 1242. (Alan II LA ZOUCHE was born in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire, England and died on 10 Aug 1270 in London, Middlesex, England.)
