The Cottrell manuscript and the Truman manuscript show William next in inheritance after James but the Golden Grove manuscript shows John Gwyn next after James. (PM-606 pg 7)
Christopher Bassett’s book calls him William Jenkin Bassett. (PM-609 pg 27)
Since Wm’s older brother, James had no sons, Wm inherited Beaupre or Rees Mansel inherited it from James Bassett through his daughter, Elinor and then gave it to William Bassett at the marriage to his daughter, Catherine Mansel. (PM-606 pg 7 & 8)
Christopher Bassett’s book says that Wm was born in 1477, married Catherine, D/O Wm Fleming and had children: William of Beaupre; John (ancestor of Bassetts of Eglwysbrewis); Christopher (first Bassett of Miskin); Jenkin who married but had no children; Joan who married Richard Carne and then Lewis Williams; Eleanor who mar. John Stradling and Jane who married Thomas Williams. (PM-606 pg 8) 2
