  Research Notes:

In the 1737 Will of his uncle Benjamin Fox of Illogan, yeoman, John Fox the son of Arthur Fox was bequeathed the tenement of Raill along with its corn, two oxen, five young bullocks, two cows, one colt, and ten sheep, so long as he pays £5 to his sister Rebecca Trewartha, £5 to his sister Elizabeth Fox, and £10 to his brother Arthur Fox.

In his father's Will (written 1748) John was bequeathed his tenements of Rayll Wotfall and Ventenrais as well as half of his tinbounds and his second best horse and an old but reliable plough.

In 1763/4 John Fox and Benjamin Hockin were churchwardens for Illogan parish.

In 1779/80 John Fox and John Andrew were churchwardens for Illogan parish.

In May 1809 John Fox of the parish of Illogan, yeoman, was granted Administration of the goods, chattels and credits of his brother Arthur Fox of Illogan, yeoman.

Abstract of the Will of John Fox of the Parish of Illogan in the County of Cornwall, Yeoman, written 7 Mar 1814, proved 15 Jan 1816. 3

Gives, devises and bequeaths £10 to his nephew William Trewartha.

Gives, devises and bequeaths £100 to his niece Elizabeth Pascoe, widow.

Gives, devises and bequeaths £20 to his niece Rebecca the wife of Edward Bural.

Gives, devises and bequeaths £150 to his nephew Richard Provis.

Gives, devises and bequeaths £40 to his niece Constance Harvey, widow.

Gives, devises and bequeaths to his nephew John Trewartha his dwelling house and meadow in Portreath in Illogan parish currently occupied by Joseph Williams. Also gives, devises and bequeaths to John Trewartha Harrington Wood in Illogan parish and the dwelling house and front meadows there, currently occupied by Samuel Bosanco. Said bequests are on condition that John Trewartha does not sell the said premises but shall pass them on to his own children.

Gives, devises and bequeaths £200 to his natural son Richard Fox the elder, along with his dwelling house and premises wherein he now lives, as well as the meadows which are part and parcel of Ventonraise in Illogan parish.

Gives, devises and bequeaths £100 to Richard Fox the younger son of Richard Fox the elder, along with the dwelling house and meadows in Ventonraise aforesaid currently occupied by Sarah Andrew and her undertenants.

All the rest, residue and remainder of his estates, good, chattels and effects he gives, devises and bequeaths to John Fox son of the said Richard Fox the elder, appointing the said John Fox the sole executor of his last will and testament.
