In 1891 Emma J. Rushby (15) of Binbrook was with her uncle Tom Blakey and his wife Mary A. in Thornton-le-Moor, Lincs.

In 1906 E J Rushby was a witness at the marriage of her brother Thomas to Ruth Olive Healey.

Emma and her husband Edward Ashton moved to the USA shortly after the were married in 1907.

In the 1910 U.S. Census, Emma Ashton (34) of England, clerk at a bleachery, and husband of 3 years Edward Ashton (40) of England, laborer at a bleachery, were living in Lawrence, Ward 6, Essex co. Massachusetts. They had four boarders all from England.
