"MR JAMES LAMBIE, OF KYLE

The death occurred at Ashburton on Tuesday evening of Mr James Lambie, a well-known resident of the Kyle district, Ashburton County, where he had been farming for 54 years. Mr Lambie was born at Lakeside 70 years ago, and was the son of Mr and Mrs John Lambie, who were early settlers of that part of Ellesmere. He was educated at the Lakeside school and lived in the district until 16 years of age, when he went with his parents to the Kyle district, where his father had taken up land. Later he took over an adjoining farm which he had occupied ever since. He married Miss C. Bruce and leaves a widow, one son, Mr J. Lambie, of Kyle, and one daughter, Miss L. Lambie, of Dunedin. Messrs. Robert, William, and James Lambie, of Lakeside, and Miss Lambie, of Leeston, are cousins. Mr James Lambie took a prominent part in local body affairs in the Ashburton county. He was a member of the old school committee at Kyle, of the South Rakaia Road Board, of which he was chairman for a term, and he had also been a member of the Ashburton County, also a member of the Ashburton Power Board for many years." 4
