At the time of the 1851 England Census Gabriel Goldney, aged 37, born in Chippenham Wilts, solicitor, and wife Mary A Goldney, aged 37, born in Corsham Wilts, were living in High Street, Chippenham. With them were sons (born in Chippenham) Gabriel P (7), scholar at home, Frederick H (5), scholar at home, John T (4), scholar at home.

In 1853 Gabriel Goldney was Mayor of Chippenham.

At the time of the 1861 England Census Gabriel Goldney, aged 47, born in Chippenham Wilts, solicitor, and wife Mary A Goldney, aged 47, born in Corsham Wilts, were living in Beechfield House, Corsham Wilts. Gabriel Goldney was M.P. for the borough of Chippenham from 1865 to 1885.
