  • Christened: 8 Oct 1793, St. Clement, Hastings, Sussex, England 1
  • Married: 8 Jun 1824, St. Clement, Hastings, Sussex, England 2
  • Buried: 20 Oct 1871, Boulogne-sur-Mer, Pas-de-Calais, France 3

  Research Notes:

Given names rendered as 'Marianne' in a few of the baptismal records of her children.

--------------------------

In Apr 1814 Mary Ann Lock was present at the marriage of her brother George Tabret Lock to Sal Harman in Guestling Sussex.

In May 1820 Mary Ann Lock was present at the marriage of her sister Sophia Locke to John Laver in Hastings St. Clement.

In 1832 Mary Ann the wife of Robert Noakes was a beneficiary of her father's Will, receiving those tenements, hereditaments and premises in the parish of St. Clement in co. Sussex he purchased of William Markwick.

Mary does not appear in any of the British censuses and nor is there a record of her death anywhere in Britain. Her husband Robert Thomas Noakes and their son Thomas appear once, in 1861, when they were staying in a tavern in St. Mary-in-the-Castle in Hastings, Sussex. The family was in Boulogne, France by 1852 in which year and place daughter Constance Colegate Noakes married John Solly. Constance's father and other family members were witnesses. Constance Colegate Solly died in Boulogne in 1859 aged 30 years. It would appear that her mother, Mary Ann, remained in Boulogne.

--------------------------

Mary Anne Noakes of Boulogne-sur-Mer died aged 78 years (burial record).
