At the time of the 1911 England Census Hannah Childs, age 29, born in East Grinsted, was living at Bullingstone Speldhurst Tunbridge. With her was husband Archibald Childs (32) of Smarts Hill, domestic gardener.

BULLINGSTONE.
PTE. A. CHILDS.

Mrs. Childs, of Bullingstone, has received official intimation that her husband, Pte. Archibald Childs, has been missing since 12th April. He was in the Royal Fusiliers, and joined up on the 20th June, 1916, and was despatched to France in May, 1917. He has been wounded twice, once in July and again in December. He has a brother serving in France and another in England, and prior to joining up was one of the gardeners in the employ of the late Mr. G. Drummond, of Swaylands, Penshurst. His wife would be glad of any information about him from any of his comrades.

In the 1939 Register Anna Childs (b. 28 Sep 1881), widowed, unpaid domestic duties, was living at Hillside Watling Street, Lichfield, Staffordshire. At the same address was [daughter] Ivy D Childs (b. 8 Jun 1914), single, domestic help.
