At the time of the 1901 England Census, Albert Newick, age 24, born in Etchingham Sussex, unmarried, general labourer, was lodging at 50 Cornwall Rd., Bexhill, Sussex.

Albert, like his father, moved to the Maidstone district in Kent.

At the time of the 1911 England Census Albert Newick, age 34, born in Etchingham, domestic gardener, was living at Ashfield Cottages in Hawkhurst Kent. With him was wife of 7 years Charlotte, age 30, born in Blisworth Northants.

In the 1939 Register Albert Newick (b. 18 Oct 1876), gardener, and wife Charlotte E Newick (b. 29 Oct 1880), unpaid domestic duties, were living in Spring Cottage Heansill Lane, The Moor, Cranbrook, Kent. At the same address were (Albert's father] James Newick (b. 21 May 1854), widowed, retired farm labourer, Alice B Newick* (b. 18 Jan 1883), married, unpaid domestic duties, Kathleen H Evans (b. 16 Dec 1903), single, laundress.

Hawkhurst

Resident in the village for most of his life, Mr. Albert Newick, of Springcot, Hensill Lane, The Moor, died on Saturday, aged 79. Born at Etchingham, he was a gardener for very many years to the Springett family at the Moor. He retired when the family left the village a few years ago. As a young man he went to America for a time, and he served with the Buffs in the 1914-18 War and with the Home Guard in the late War. He had been a British Legion member locally. Mr. Newick's wife died some years ago, and he leaves a brother but no family. The funeral took place on Thursday at All Saints Church.
