At the time of the 1851 England Census Alfred Horton, aged 24, born in Camberwell Surrey, unmarried, shipping provision merchant, was at 22 Lower Kent Lane, Lambeth Surrey.

At the time of the 1871 England Census Alfred Horton, aged 44, born in Camberwell, accountant, and wife Jessie, aged 28, born in Kensington, were living at 31 Wellington St., St. Pancras London. With them was daughter Ethel J (3) of Burton on Trent.
