"Mrs. Marion Shapleigh, 72, of 43 Fore Road, Eliot, widow of Merritt J. Shapleigh, died at Portsmouth Hospital Sunday, April 16th.
She was born in Portsmouth, June 29, 1905, daughter of the late William and Mary (Newick) Shuttleworth.
Mrs. Shapleigh was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church and a 50-year member of Rivermouth Chapter, Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, Merritt Shapleigh and William Shapleigh, both of Eliot; four daughetrs, Mrs. Patricia Witham of Eliot, Mrs. Marjorie Bailey of South Berwick, Mrs. Carolyn Hale and Mrs. Marcia Goss, both of Eliot; 20 grand-children and four great-grandchildren; four brothers, William Shuttleworth of Florida, Clarence Shuttleworth of St. Petersburg, Fla., Albert Shuttleworth of Warrington, Fla., Frank Shuttleworth of Englewood, Fla; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Fitz of Eliot and Mrs. Edith Hartson of Stratham.
