At the time of the 1851 England Census Harriett Davey, aged 42, born in Heathfield Sussex, and husband Edward Davey, aged 52, born in Mayfield Sussex, butcher, were living at 31-32 Black Lion St., Brighthelmstone, Sussex. With them were children (born in Brighton): Jane (18), Catherine (16), Edward (15) and Herbert (3).

At the time of the 1861 England Census Harriett Davey, aged 53, born in Heathfield Sussex, and husband Edward Davey, aged 63, born in Mayfield Sussex, farmer of about 100 acres, were living in Peel House, Hailsham Sussex. With them was son Herbert (12) of Brighton Sussex, scholar.

At the time of the 1871 England Census Harriett Davey, aged 63, born in Heathfield Sussex, and husband Edward Davey, aged 73, born in Mayfield Sussex, owner & occupier [of] 100 acres employing 3 men & 1 boy, were living in Peel House, Hailsham Sussex. With them was son Herbert C (23) of Brighton, occupier [of] 116 acres employing 5 men & 2 boys.

Admission of EDWARD DAVEY of Brighton, butcher, as devisee under the Will date 21 Feb., 1870 of Thomas Crismas, who was devisee of his brother Henry Chrismas under his Will dated 25 June, 1869 to the cottage and premises before described Which premises were conveyed, 12 Oct., 1871, by Edward Davey (father of the said Edwd. Davey) of Hailsham, gent., and Harriet his wife (the customary heiress of the said Thomas Chrismas) to the said Edward Davey the son to prevent the possibility of any question whether the copyhold premises were well devised by the said Thomas Chrismas.

The Will with a Codicil of Harriett Davey late of the Mullbrooks Hailsham in the county of Sussex, widow, who died 8 August 1886 at the Mullbrooks was proved 15 August 1887 at the Principal Registry by Edward Davey of the Lodge Black Notley in the county of Essex, gentleman, the son, the sole executor. Personal estate £3,653 11s. 8d. 4
