  Research Notes:

"WORKMAN CRUSHED TO DEATH.

A shocking fatality occurred on Howlong-road, near Albury, on Thursday afternoon. The Hume Shire road-making plant, in charge of O. Fietz, with Thomas Coulston as attendant, was being removed from Lavington to Splitter's Creek. Fietz was driving the engine, which weighs 8 tons. Coulston, unknown to Fietz, fell off the front of the engine, and the roller passed over his shoulders and head, crushing him, in a shocking manner, causing instantaneous death. Fietz proceeded on his journey unaware of the accident, and the body was found some time later by a motor car party. Coulston, who was a married man living at Lavington, was an old shire employee." 2
