In 1841, Edward Humphry (60), mariner, was in Hole in the Wall Street, Llanbeblig, Caernarfon. Wife Anne was in Borthwen, Llanaber, Merioneth.

In 1851, Edward Humphreys (72) of Llandecwyn Merionethshire, retired ship master, and [2nd] wife Jane (53) of Llanaber, were living at No. 1 Borthwen Terrace, Llanaber. Edward's daughter Catherine Lloyd and her family were living a couple of doors away.

The Will of Edward Humphreys of Borthwen Terrace in the Parish of Llanaber in the County of Merioneth, Master Mariner, written 7 May 1857, proved 20 Mar 1861.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Edward Humphreys of Borthwen Terrace in the Parish of Llanaber in the County of Merioneth Master Mariner. I do declare that the devises and Gifts and bequests hereinafter made are subject and liable to the uses and Trusts contained in a certain Indenture of Settlement made on my Marriage with Jane Humphreys my present wife and bearing date the twenty first day of January one thousand eight hundred and forty eight and made between me the said Edward Humphreys of the first Part the said Jane Humphreys (then Jane Lewis Spinster) of the second Part and David Anwyl Gentleman of the third Part. I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses (save and except the sum of five hundred pounds and Interest now charged on my real Estate) shall be paid by my Executors hereinafter appointed out of the proceeds of my personal Estate and which I hereby make chargeable therewith. I give and devise all those my Messuages or Tenements farm lands and hereditaments with the rights and appurtenances thereunto belonging called and known by the names of Aberdeunant and Hendregerig situate lying and being in the Parish of Llandecwyn in the said County and now in the holding or occupation of John Evans his undertenants or assigns (save and except the minerals and timber thereunder thereon) unto William Jones Morris of Barmouth in the said County his heirs and assigns Upon Trust to allow my daughter Jane Richards the wife of John Richards to receive and take the rent issues and profits thereof for a during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease Upon Trust to allow my daughter Catherine Lloyd the wife of Evan Lloyd deceased to receive and take the rents issues and profits thereof (save and except as aforesaid) for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after the decease of the survivor of them the said Jane Richards and Catherine Lloyd To the use of Edward Llewelyn Lloyd the son of my said daughter Catherine by her said late husband Evan Lloyd his heirs and assigns forever. I give unto my said daughter Catherine Lloyd all the timber that may be growing and standing on the said farms called Aberdaunant and Hendregerig at the time of the decease of my said wife Jane Humphreys and the growth thereof during the lifetime of her the said Catherine Lloyd and Jane Richards with full power for her the said Catherine Lloyd during the lifetime of the said Catherine Lloyd and Jane Richards and for the executors administrators and assigns of the said Catherine Lloyd for the term of two years after the decease of the Survivor of them the said Jane Richards and Catherine Lloyd to enter upon the said farms and lands to cut harvest and carry away the same and I give all the Mines and Minerals that may be or will be found upon or under the said farm and lands unto the said William Jones Morris his heirs and assigns Upon Trust to allow the said Catherine Lloyd and her assigns to receive the issues and profits of one undivided half part or share thereof to and for her own use and benefit during the time of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease to the use of the said Edward Llewelyn Lloyd his heirs and assigns forever and I hereby authorize the said William Jones Morris his heirs or assigns during the time that the said Edward Llewelyn Lloyd shall remain under the age of twenty one years to grant leases of the said mines and Minerals in the usual way and as occasion may require I give and devise all those my Messuages or dwelling houses with their appurtenances situate in South Penrallt in the town of Carnarvon unto my said daughter Catherine Lloyd her heirs and assigns for ever. I give and bequeath my share in the Sloop Barbara and Elizabeth of Barmouth aforesaid unto my said wife Jane Humphreys for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease I give and devise the same unto my said daughter Jane Richards absolutely. I give and bequeath the sum of five Pounds to the British and Foreign Bible Society. I give and bequeath the sum of five Pounds to the Missionary Society in connexion with the British and Foreign Bible Society. Whereas certain Shares that I was possessed of in the Brig New Harmony have been sold with the Consent of my said wife Jane Humphreys for the sum of Two hundred and seventy two Pounds Now I do declare that the said sum of two hundred and seventy two pounds shall stand subject and liable to the same uses and Trusts as are declared concerning the said New Harmony in the said Indenture of Settlement. And from and after the decease of my said wife I give and bequeath the same to my said daughter Catherine Lloyd. I give and bequeath all my Books and household goods and furniture unto my said wife Jane Humphreys for and during the term of her natural life And from and after her decease I give and devise all my Books unto the said Edward Llewelyn Lloyd absolutely and all my household goods and furniture to my said daughter Catherine Lloyd and the said Edward Llewelyn Lloyd equally share and share alike. And I give and bequeath all the rest and residue of my personal Estate and property to my said wife Jane Humphreys for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease I give and bequeath the same to my said daughter Catherine Lloyd absolutely. And I declare that it is my will and wish that my poor remains be deposited in the same grave with my grandmother in the Churchyard of the said Parish of Llandecwyn. I give and bequeath to the said William Jones Morris the sum of five Pounds conditional on his acting as joint executor with my said wife as hereinafter appointed. I nominate and appoint my said wife Jane Humphreys and the said William Jones Morris Executrix and Executor of this my last Will In Testimony whereof I the said Edward Humphreys have hereunto set my hand and seal this 7th day of May 1857 — Edward Humphreys (S.S.) — Signed sealed Published and declared by the said Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in the presence of each other and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto — David Pugh, Solicitor, DolgellyJohn Edwards, Draper Assistant, Barmouth.

Proved at London 20th March 1861 by the oath of Jane Anwyl Wife of David Anwyl (formerly Humphreys Widow) the Relict one of the Executors to whom admon was granted Power reserved of making the life Grant to William Jones Morris the other Executor. 4
