At the time of the 1851 England Census William E Roods, age 34, born in Westham Sussex, farmer of 600 to 800 acres, and wife Frances, age 27, born in Teddington Middlesex, were living in Litlington Sussex. With them were children (born in Litlington): Mary Anne (5), William E (2), Frances (?).

In Apr 1852 William Edward Roods was co-executor of the Will of his uncle Samuel Roods of Westham, yeoman.

In Feb 1858 William Edward Roods of Litlington was co-executor of the Will of Charles Ade of Milton Court in the parish of Arlington, gentleman.

In Jan 1861 William Edward Roods of Upper Stoneham in the parish of South Malling, farmer, was co-executor of the Will of his mother-in-law Ann Ade of Charlston in the parish of West Dean, Sussex, widow.

Mr. William Edward Roods was appointed guardian of the poor for South Malling, as reported in the Sussex Agricultural Express dated 16 Apr 1861 (p. 2).

At the time of the 1861 England Census William E Roods, age 44, born in Westham Sussex, farmer of 751 acres employing 18 men and 8 boys, and wife Frances, age 37, born in Tedington Middlesex, were living in Upper Stoneham, South Malling, Sussex. Present were children (born in Litlington): William E (12), scholar, Charles H (9), scholar, Florence A (6), Alfred (4), and Margaret E (2).

Mr. William Edward Roods was appointed guardian of the poor for South Malling, as reported in the Sussex Advertiser dated 3 May 1864 (p. 5).

In May 1865 William Edward Roods of Malling, esquire, was co-executor of the Will of his late sister Jane Roods of Westham, spinster.

At the time of the 1871 England Census William E Roods, age 54, born in Westham Sussex, farmer of 750 acres, and wife Frances, age 47, born in Teddington Middlesex, were living in Upper Stoneham Farm, South Malling, Sussex. With them were children (born in Litlington): William E (22), farmer's son, Charles H (19), engine fitter, Thomas O (17), miller's apprentice, Alfred (14), scholar, Margaret E (12) of Lewes, scholar, Francis S (9) of Lewes, scholar.

In Jan 1876 William Edward Roods of Stoneham, farmer, was granted Administration of the personal effects of his late son William Edward Roods late of Stoneham, gentleman.

Mr. William Edward Roods was appointed guardian of the poor for South Malling, as reported in the Sussex Advertiser dated 24 Apr 1877 (p. 5).

At the time of the 1881 England Census William Henry Roods [sic], age 64, born in Westham Sussex, retired farmer, and wife Frances, age 57, born in Teddington Middlesex, were living in Wannock? Jevington Sussex. Present were children Charles H (29) of Litlington, engineer..., Margaret E (22) of Lewes, farmer's daughter, Francis Samuel (19) of Lewes.

At the time of the 1891 England Census William E. Roods, age 74, born in Westham Sussex, retired farmer, widower, was living in Wyche Hurst, Handcomb Street, Westham. With him were children: Florence A Roods (36) of Litlington, Margaret E Roods (32) of South Malling.

At the time of the 1901 England Census William Edward Roods, age 84, born in Westham Sussex, widower, retired farmer, was living in Wychehurst Westham Sussex. With him were daughters Florence Annie Roods (45) of Litlington, and Margaret Elizabeth (41) of Lewes Sussex.
