At the time of the 1851 England Census William Newick, age 26, born in Etchingham Sussex, agricultural labourer, and wife Mary A., age 27, born in Ticehurst Sussex, were living in Mapesdew? Cottage, Wadhurst Sussex. With them were children: Esther S. (6)* of Ticehurst, Thomas (2) of Wadhurst. Lodging was Charles Gooding (22) of Woolwich Kent, rail lab.

* Esther was Mary's natural-born daughter, father unknown.

At the time of the 1861 England Census William Newick, age 36, born in Etchingham Sussex, agricultural labourer, and wife Mary A., age 37, born in Ticehurst Sussex, were living in Barden House, Etchingham, Sussex. With them were children: Thomas (12) of Wadhurst, ag. lab., Mary A. (8) of Wadhurst, scholar, William (4) of Ticehurst, Ann L (3) of Ewhurst.

At the time of the 1871 England Census William Newick, age 46, born in Etchingham Sussex, agricultural labourer, and wife Mary A., age 47, born in Ticehurst Sussex, were living in Bourne Farm, Sandhurst, Kent. With them were children: William (14) of Ticehurst, ag. lab., Ann L. (12) of Ewhurst, scholar, Ellis [Alice] M. (8) of Etchingham, scholar, Alfred J. (6) of Ewhurst.

In May 1872 William Newick was present at the marriage of his daughter Mary Ann Newick to William Smith in Sandhurst Kent.

At the time of the 1881 England Census William Newick, age 56, born in Etchingham Sussex, agricultural labourer, and [2nd] wife Caroline, age 45, born in Benenden Kent, were living in Loves House Farm, Saleshurst Sussex. Present were children: Edward Marshall (19)* of Cranbrook, Alfred J. Newick (16) of Ewhurst, ag. lab., John Newick (8) of Marden, scholar, Walter Newick (4) of Burwash, Sarah J. With them were children: Alfred James (26) of Ewhurst, agricultural labourer, Walter (14) of Burwash, agricultural labourer, Sarah Jane (10) of Ticehurst, scholar.

At the time of the 1901 England Census, William Newick, age 76, born in Etchingham Sussex, widower, agricultural labourer, was staying with his son Thomas and his family at No. 3 Terrace, Etchingham.
