Emily ("Amy") Newick

  • Born: Jul 1837 1
  • Died: 22 Sep 1936, Parramatta Hospital, Parramatta, Sydney, N.S.W., Australia 2

  Research Notes:

Called Amy on the death certificates of her children. I'm not entirely sure this Emily Newick daughter of Henry was the partner of John Watkins, given that her birth was registed in 1843, and Emily the so-called wife of John Watkins was apparently born in 1837 (see death notice below).

--------------------------------

In 1930, Amy Watkins was living in Goonumbla, Parkes. Present was son William Grant Watkins, farmer, and his wife Mabel Watkins.

In 1936, Amy Watkins was living in Namre Rd., St. Marys. Present was son William Grant Watkins, farmer, and his wife Mabel Watkins.

--------------------------------

Emily's death is registered under both Emily Watkins and Emily Newick, just as her Will shows her as both Amy Watkins and Amy Newick, suggesting that John Watkins and Emily Newick were never officially married (which would explain why no marriage entry can be found).
