3 It is difficult to determine which Hannah John Davis married as his second wife without knowing when his first wife Alice died. Alice does not appear to have been buried in Shalbourne. A John Davis married Hannah Guy in 1723 in the nearby parish of Great Bedwyn (John's youngest known child by Alice was born in 1720); a John Davis married Hannah Spackman in 1761 in Milton Lilborne (notably where John's son, Daniel, called 'of Oxenwood' was also married). If the latter is the correct second marriage, then John was 84 years old at the time.
