Elizabeth St. Nicholas, Heiress of Goshall 1 2

  • Born: Est 1480, Thorn, Minster, Thanet, Kent, England
  • Married: Est 1510

  General Notes:

compiler's 13 x great grandmother

  Research Notes:

daughter and heir

Elizabeth's eldest son Henry was, according to his own reckoning, born c. 1515 (32 years old in 1547). The Visitation of Kent (1619-21) shows he had a younger brother Edward, but to-date the compiler has found no information to indicate whether or not Henry had older sisters. So, for the moment, an estimated marriage year of 1510 for Elizabeth St. Nicholas and John Dyneley is shown. Elizabeth's birth year is estimated to have been around 1480 (perhaps a little earlier), which would indicate that her father died while she was still a child.

------------------------------

Nether Court was anciently part of the possessions of the family of Sandwich to temp. Edward III when it was then held by Nicholas de Sandwich. After this family had become extinct here, it passed to the family of Goshall aka Goshale of Goshal, Ash, Kent til temp Henry IV when it was carried in marriage by a female heir to one of the family of St. Nicholas, of whom Roger St. Nicholas died in possession of it during 1484. Nether Court passed to his daughter and sole heir, Elizabeth, who carried it to her husband John Dynley of Charlton, Worcerstershire. 3

  Marriage Information:

Elizabeth married John Dyneley of Charlton, son William Dyneley of Charlton and Alice Hardwicke, Est 1510. (John Dyneley died in 1541 in Charlton, Cropthorne, Worcestershire, England.)
