   Research Notes:

Obit Extract:

"Everett Dayton Bohls, age 91, beloved husband and father, passed away of natural causes on August 12, 2009, in Austin, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary; son, Rex and wife Laura; daughter, Jane; son, James and wife Dawn; and five grandchildren. He was born April 4, 1918, to Herbert Carl and Allie (Allen) Bohls, one of the pioneer families of Bee Cave, Texas. He graduated from Austin High School and in 1941, from the University of Texas with a Business Administration degree. Serving in the Army from 1942 to 1945, his duty brought him to England, Belgium and France. He was on his way to the Pacific arena when peace was declared. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, a 50-year member of the Ben Hur Shrine and served on many Austin bank boards. Upon his return to Austin, he obtained his Certified Public Accountant license where he initially worked for the IRS then later went into private practice. Over the course of his life, his entrepreneurial drive was astounding. Everett's various business ventures included a life insurance company, concrete block manufacturing company, cafeteria, grocery stores, restaurants (including "The Tavern"), public record search company, title company, lawn service, waste disposal company and retail boat company. He also built homes, apartments, retail buildings and developed commercial property. He hit his stride with land development, this being his primary occupation and strength. His inner strength and talent of diplomacy at the bargaining table was phenomenal! This gift served him well as he answered the phone, attended important meetings, and met you when called upon. He never shunned his responsibilities or uttered a discouraging word. His country charm contributed to his success both personally and professionally, revolving around meeting people one on one and working toward "win win" scenarios. Everett had many interests and hobbies. These interests and pursuits outside his humble beginnings in Bee Cave, Texas, took him around the world many times. His real interest was hunting and fishing. The opening of Deer Season was a ritual and always started with a very detailed "grocery list". His shooting skills were unmatched both with a rifle and a shotgun. He could catch fish while others were baiting their hooks. One of his many talents surfaced at the ripe age of 53 years. His oil painting began when his wife gave him a painter's beret, palette, and beginner's easel. His hidden artistic gift blossomed. Those who have seen the results of Everett's gift agree the works are beautiful and transcendent. He painted landscapes, waterfalls, chickens, donkeys, still life, but his passion was for roses. He never wanted to bring attention to himself throughout his painting pursuits. Most recently, his interest was gardening. His notebook on gardening ideas begin to bulge. Checking the gardening almanac and conferring with other gardening friends, he kept his tomato and okra garden producing at his house for 20+ years. He enjoyed sharing his harvest with all. Everett always had a positive outlook and was always willing to share his expertise in business. His many short sayings and quips about life will always be remembered." 2
