Abstract of the Will of Hugh Vaughan of Cefn Cwmberth in the Parish of Celynin (Llangelynin) in the County of Merioneth, Gentleman, written 29 Nov 1751, proved 21 Mar 1753.

Gives and bequeaths £20 to his son Alban Vaughan.

Gives 20 shillings to his son Hugh.

Gives 40 shillings to his son John.

Gives 40 shillings to his son Evan.

Gives 20 shillings to his daughter Anne.

Gives 20 shillings to his daughter Elizabeth the wife of Lewis Morris.

Gives 40 shillings to his daughter Gwen.

Gives to each of his grandsons who goes by the name of Hugh a ewe and a lamb.

All the rest and residue of his personal effects to gives to his son Alban Vaughan and his wife Elizabeth Anwyl and his daughter Catherine whom he appoints joint executors of his last will and testament.

1 The identity of this Hugh Vaughan as the son of Griffith Vaughan of Dolmelynllyn, whilst probable, nonetheless needs to be verified. It should be noted that, as shown above, one of the witnesses to Hugh's will was Robert Owen of Waenfach, who was the son of Lewis Owen of Waenfach and Jane Vaughan. Jane Vaughan was the sister of Hugh Vaughan son of Griffith Vaughan abovementioned, and so Robert was Hugh's nephew. Robert Owen was also a witness to the granting of Administration of the personal effects of Hugh's wife Elizabeth Anwyl to their son Alban in 1759.
