Emma DE PARIS

  • Born: Abt 943, Paris, Île-de-France, France
  • Married: 960, Rouen, Seine-Maritime, Haute-Normandie, France
  • Died: After 18 Mar 968

   Research Notes:

The Liber Modernorum Regum Francorum records the marriage in 956 of "Richardus filius Guillelmi principis Normannorum" with "filiam Hugonis ducis", although she is not named. Guillaume of Jumièges records the betrothal of “Hugo dux...filiam suam...Emmam” and “puerum Richardum”, with the consent of “Bernardi Silvanectensis”, and in a later passage their marriage. No direct proof has yet been found that Emma was the daughter of her father's third marriage. However, this is likely given that betrothals at the time normally took place when the female partner was still a child or in early adolescence. Guillaume of Jumièges records the death without children of “Emma uxor eius filia Hugonis Magni”.
