Orderic Vitalis records that "Engenulfus et Richuereda uxor eius" donated the deceased’s horse to Ouche after "Rogerius primogenitus Engenulfi de Aquila filius" was killed, dated to [1059/61]. The Chronique de Normandie, based on le Roman de Rou, names "Engenous de l’Aigle" among those who took part in the conquest of England in 1066. Orderic Vitalis records that “Engenulfus Aquilensis oppidanus” was killed in the battle of Hastings. 2
