At the time of the 1901 England Census Martha Bristed, age 77, born in London, widow, was living at 35 St. Peters Rd., Margate Kent. With her daughter Clara H Bristed (39) of Greenwich London, son John Bristed (44) of Dalston London, married, living on own means, and his wife Mary F (35) of Scotland, and their son Vernon B B Bristed (2) of India.
