At the time of the 1871 England Census Ellen Goldsmith, aged 27, born in Hellingly, widow, was working as a cook in St. Thomas at Cliffe, Sussex.

In June 1871 Ellen Burton 3 was present at the marriage of her brother Abner Dearing to Caroline Coleman in Upper Dicker, Sussex.
