  Research Notes:

In 1694 Richard received 6 shillings 8 pence from the Will of his paternal grandfather Richard Bristed of Waldron.

In 1727 Richard Bristed of Crawle in the parish of Warbleton was co-executor of the Will of his uncle Ezekiel Bristed, Rector of Meeching alias Newhaven.

In Jan 1728 Richard Bristed of Warbleton, yeoman, was appointed co-executor of the Will of his friend Thomas Grace of Fairlight, yeoman.

In 1737 Richard Bristed of Crawle in Warbleton was the sole remaining executor of the Will of his uncle Joseph Chapman of Waldron.

Abstract of the Will of Richard Bristed of Warbleton in the County of Sussex, Gentleman, written 19 Nov 1749, proved 27 Jan 1750. 4

Gives and bequeaths £3 to the poor people of the parish of Warbleton.

Gives and bequeaths £120 to his wife Frances, along with the use of all his household goods for the term of her natural life, she permitting his cousin John Bristed and his nephew Benjamin Bristed son of his brother James Bristed the use of the farms and lands.

After his wife's decease he gives and bequeaths the said household goods and linen to the said John Bristed and Benjamin Bristed and their heirs.

Gives and bequeaths to the said John Bristed and Benjamin Bristed all his stock, corn, hay, husbandry, farm equipment and lands called Crawle farm, Blackhouse land, and Tyhouse marshland, for them to use and occupy, share and share alike as partners in common but not joint partners. However, if the said John Bristed does not agree to the use of the land as partners, and he decides to divide the stock of the farms, then the said John Bristed and Benjamin Bristed shall choose whoever they deem fit to value and appraise the same, based on which he gives and bequeaths to the said John Bristed a quarter of the whole, another quarter to James Bristed son of his said brother James Bristed, and he gives and bequeaths the remaining half to the said Benjamin Bristed.

Gives and bequeaths £5 each to his cousins Ezekiel Bristed, Thomas Bristed, Benjamin Bristed and Mary Bristed, children of Obediah Bristed. He also gives and bequeaths £5 to the children of his cousin John Bristed deceased and the same to the children of his cousin Sarah Bristed deceased, which bequests are to be paid to his cousin Richard Bristed their uncle for their use.

Gives and bequeaths £50 to his said cousin Richard Bristed.

Gives and bequeaths £100 to his brother Joseph Bristed.

Gives and bequeaths to his cousin John Blackman and his heirs a parcel of land called the Lodgeland in the parish of Hooe, along with £50.

Gives and bequeaths to his brother Benjamin Bristed those tenements, buildings and lands in Warbleton late of John Durrant, for the term of his natural life, whereafter he bequeaths the same to his said brother James Bristed for the term of his natural life, and thereafter to James's son James Bristed and his lawful heirs.

Gives and bequeaths £100 to his said brother James Bristed as well as his lands and premises in the parish of East Hoathly for the term of his natural life, and thereafter to James's son James Bristed.

Gives and bequeaths £100 to his cousin James Bristed, as well as his lease of marshlands called Lampam, along with its stock.

Gives and bequeaths £10 to his maid servant Ann Chapman.

All the rest of his personal estate, money, mortgages, bills and bonds, he gives and bequeaths to his brothers Benjamin Bristed and James Bristed, appointing them co-executors of his last will and testament.
