1 Frant Sussex Parish Registers, Baptisms, p. 176, no. 1405. Though Thomas's mother Mary married Samuel Rummery about 6 months after Thomas was christened, it is safe to say (i.e. it is highly unlikely) that Samuel was Thomas's father, given that Thomas married Samuel's daughter Mildred Jane, youngest daughter of his first marriage to Alice Pemble. I seriously doubt that the Church would have sanctioned a marriage between half-siblings.
