William son of Thomas Weeks of Wadhurst, labourer, and Hannah (baptismal record)

--------------------------

At the time of the 1851 England Census William Weeks, age 27, born in Wadhurst Sussex, unmarried, agl. lab, was with his paternal grandfather James Weeks (80) of Ticehurst, widower, agl. lab, in Rise Den Farm, Wadhurst Sussex. There also was James's granddaughter Ann Packham (25) of Wadhurst, unmarried, housekeeper. Ann was probably the same as Sarah Ann Packham (same age, born in the same parish) whom William married in May of this year, and if so, means that he married his first cousin, noting that Sarah's mother's name was Harriet Weeks.

In Aug 1852 William Weeks was present at the marriage of his sister Frances Weeks to Joseph Baker in Frant Sussex.

At the time of the 1871 England Census Wm Weeks, age 47, born in Sussex, carrier, and wife Sarah, age 44, born in Wadhurst Sussex, were living at 1 Station Road, Brenchley Kent. With them were children (born in Wadhurst): Wm (19), laborer (coal wharf), and Sarah (11), scholar.

At the time of the 1881 England Census William Weeks, age 58, born in Burwash* Sussex, poulterer, and wife Sarah, age 54, born in Wadhurst, were living in Paddock Wood, Brenchley Kent. With them was son William (29) of Wadhurst, unmarried, ag. lab.

* Born in Wadhurst, William grew up in Burwash.

At the time of the 1891 England Census William Weeks, age 67, birthplace not known, carrier, carm[an], and wife Sarah, age 64, born in Mayfield Sussex, were living at 8 Maidstone Rd., Brenchley Kent. Present was son William (38) of Mayfield, single, assistant carrier, carm[an].

At the time of the 1901 England Census William Weekes, age 87 [sic], born in Heathfield Sussex, widower, carrier, carman, was living in Brenchley Kent. With him were son William (41) of Wadhurst, carrier, and sister Sarah Baker* (67) of Heathfield, widow.

* William's sister Frances, who was born in Heathfield, married Joseph Baker. Her age is understated by a few years, just as his is overstated by a decade.

--------------------------

William Weeks of Paddock Wood died aged 84 years (burial record).
