At the time of the 1851 England Census Caroline Deudney, aged 19, born in St. Mary Magdalen Sussex, was with her father in Gensing Farm, St. Mary Magdalen, Hastings.

At the time of the 1861 England Census Caroline Simmons, aged 29, born in St. Leonards Sussex, and husband Thomas Simmons, aged 39, born in Hadlow Kent, farmer, were living in Stilstead, East Peckham Kent. With them were children Henry T (3) of Hadlow, Herbert W (1) of East Peckham, and infant son (21 days) of East Peckham.

At the time of the 1871 England Census Caroline Simmons, aged 39, born in St. Leonards on Sea Sussex, and husband Thomas Simmons, aged 49, born in Hadlow Kent, landowner, were living in Stilstead, East Peckham Kent. With them were children (born in East Peckham) Edith E (12), scholar, Jesse A (8), scholar, Ethel C (7), scholar, Percy D (5), not at school, Ada (3), not at school, Lena (2), not at school, and Cecil (9 months).
