At the time of the 1851 England Census Jonathan Huggett, age 15, born in Chailey Sussex, ag. labourer, was with his parents in New Road, Lewes St. John under the Castle, Sussex.

At the time of the 1861 England Census Jonathan Huggett, age 23, born in Chailey Sussex, railway lab., was with his mother in St. John St., Lewes St. John under the Castle, Sussex.

In Feb 1869 Jonathan Huggett was a witness at the marriage of his brother-in-law George Edward Carey to Fanny Martin in Brighton St. Nicholas.

At the time of the 1871 England Census Jonathan Huggett, age 30, born in Chailey Sussex, labourer in chalk pits, and wife Mary Ann Huggett, age 29, born in Lewes Sussex, were living in Pleasant Place, St. John sub Castro, Lewes Sussex. With them were children (born in Lewes): Jonathan (6) and Emily (1).

At the time of the 1881 England Census Jonathan Huggett, age 49, born in Chailey Sussex, laborer chalk pits, and wife Mary Ann Huggett, age 42, born in Chailey [sic] Sussex, were living at 3 Pleasant Place St. Johns, Southover Sussex. With them were children (born in Lewes): Jonathan (17), baker, Emily (11), scholar, Alfred E (10), scholar, George F (5), scholar, William G (1).

At the time of the 1891 England Census Jonathan Huggett, age 58, born in Chailey Sussex, general laborer, and wife Mary Ann Huggett, age 52, born in Lewes Sussex, were living at 3 Pleasant Place, St. John, Lewes. Present were children (born in Lewes): Alfred (19), baker, George 14), baker, and William (11).

At the time of the 1901 England Census Jonathan Huggett, age 68, born in Chailey Sussex, labourer for corporation, and wife Mary Ann Huggett, age 63, born in Chailey [sic] Sussex, blind, were living at 3 Pleasant Place, St. John, Lewes. Present was son William (20) of Lewes, bread baker.

Jonathan Huggett died aged 70 years. 3 It appears that Jonathan's age at death has been rounded off. He overstated his age in the later Censuses. He was closer to 67 when he died.
