Writing his Will in Dec 1826 Thomas Nailard of Heathfield, farmer, bequeathed to Sarah the wife of William Akehurst 19 guineas.

Presumably this Sarah Akehurst of Cow Beach died aged 78 years (burial record). Sarah's husband William Akehurst died in 1842 in Heathfield. Sarah does not appear in the 1851 Census and nor was she buried in Heathfield. The GROE death index lists a Sarah Akehurst dying in the Hailsham district in 1850, aged 80 years—born about 1770 and therefore too young to have married in 1795. Hence Sarah may well have moved after her husband's death to Cow Beach in Herstmonceux 7½ miles SSE of Heathfield.
