At the time of the 1871 England Census Henry Simmons, age 29, born in Lewes Sussex, market gardener, and wife Charlotte, age 29, born in Chailey Sussex, were living in Rough, Newick Sussex. With them was daughter Allea (2) of Newick.

At the time of the 1881 England Census Henry Simmons, age 38, born in Lewes Sussex, lab:, and wife Charlotte, age 38, born in Chailey, were living in Snell's Cottage, Chailey.
