---------------------------

"DEATH OF AN OLD RESIDENT.-On Thursday night last, October 5, an old and well known resident of Kapunda. passed away in the person of Mr. William Pascoe. In 1857 Mr. Pascoe was a resident of Hindmarsh, where he joined the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows. Three years later he removed to the Yankalilla neighborhood, when he drew his clearance from Hindmarsh and joined the Yankalilla Lodge. In 1861 he came to Kapunda, and on September 23 of that year he became a member, by clearance, of the Sir John Franklin Lodge. From that time until a few months, ago he was an active member of the lodge, for over thirty years acting as outside guard at the lodge-room. He was of a most unassuming disposition, and did not take an active interest in'public matters, but his genial manner and strict integrity made for him a wide circle of friends, and for years he had been one of the best known men of the town. For a number of years he worked in the Kapunda Mine, but from the time of its closing down he followed the occupation of a stone-mason, in which he proved himself handy man. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, the remains being interred in the Clare-road Cemetery in the presence of a number of mourners, including brothers of the Sir John Franklin Lodge. The Rev. J. Watts (Wesleyan) conducted the usual service at the graveside, and that of the lodge was read by P.G. Bro. T. Jeffs. The deceased, tvIio died at the age of 79 years, leaves a son (Mr. W. H. Pascoe, a guard on the Northern railway line) and an unmarried daughter, Mrs. Pascoe died a few years ago."
