At the time of the 1841 Scotland Census Janet Cunningham, aged 12, born in Ayrshire Scotland, was with her parents in Burnside, Tarbolton, Ayrshire
In 1850 Janet had a natural born daughter by John McCutcheon who was named after and raised by Janet's mother Elizabeth.
At the time of the 1851 Scotland Census Janet Cunningham, aged 22, born in Tarbolton Ayrshire, labourer's daughter, was with her parents in Bigrie Burn, Tarbolton, Ayrshire.
John Shaw and wife Janet, arrived in New South Wales, Australia per the vessel Hannah Moore on 6 May 1860.
In 1875, daughter Jane drowned:
"In affectionate remembrance of Jane Drynan Shaw, who was accidentally drowned at Wallerawang on the 9th June, 1875, aged 7 years, 5 months and 3 days."

Died aged 82 years. Informant was William Shaw, her son, residing in 1911 in Denison Street Mudgee.
"March 24, 1911, at the residence of her daughter, Flirtation Hill, Mudgee Mrs Janet Shaw, relict of the late Mr John Shaw, formerly of Marrangaroo, Pipers Flat Wallerawang, and for over 34 years a resident of Mudgee in the 83rd year of her age, native of Tarbolton, Ayrshire, Scotland."
