Research Notes:
At the time of the 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses, John was living with his parents. In 1881, he was recorded as a Clerk - Drapers Cashier. In 1901, he was recorded as a Manager of a Dairy Factory.
According to Kelly's Directory of Cornwall 1910, John was living and farming at Carne Farm, Morvah, where he continued to farm until his death in 1956, when he bequeathed the farm to his great nephew Christopher Lanyon Hichens.

John married Nellie Elizabeth Vivian HALL, daughter of William Thomas HALL and Ellen Sophia LEGGO, in 1906 in Penzance District, Cornwall. (Nellie Elizabeth Vivian HALL was born about 1876 in Madron, Cornwall.)
