It is likely that, prior to marrying Mary Templeton, Robert married first to an unknown wife (probably called Elizabeth) around 1699-1700 in Craigie, and by whom he had at least 3 children (all christened in Craigie): Robert (chr. 27 Oct 1700), Elizabeth (chr. 10 May 1702 and died young), and Elizabeth (chr. 27 Aug 1704 and who probably also died young).
