Obituary

"ST. PAUL — James R. Tambling, 80, of St. Paul died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005, at Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Vern Rice will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln, with the Rev. Dave Argue officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in St. Paul.

Mr. Tambling was born July 31, 1924, at Detroit to Thomas and Violet (Barkell) Tambling.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ludeene, and his second wife, Betty.

Survivors of the immediate family include a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Lynda Tambling of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Larry Dotson of Fresno, Calif.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Michelle, Jennifer and Nathan David; four step-grandchildren; and seven great-stepgrandchildren.

He was raised in the Detroit area and attended school at Royal Oak, Mich. He entered the U.S. Army on March 22, 1943. He served until his discharge in February 1946. When he returned from the military he completed his education, graduating from high school in 1946. He then worked in a car factory, working as a buffer.

He was united in marriage to Ludeene Friend on June 1, 1946, at Royal Oak, Mich. The couple moved to Missouri, where he worked as a parts manager for an automobile dealership. He worked as parts manager in other dealerships, including one in Holdrege, from 1957 until 1967, and then at Columbus from 1967 until the early 1980s. The couple then moved to California and he worked in Palm Springs. In 1988 they moved to Lincoln.

His wife, Ludeene, died on April 11, 1999. James moved to Grand Island in 1999 and lived with his son and daughter-in-law for a little more than a year.

He was united in marriage to Betty Rojewski on May 25, 2001, at Grand Island. The couple lived moved to Edgwood Vista in Grand Island in July 2003. Their health forced them to move into nursing homes in Kenesaw and James moved to Heritage Living Center in St. Paul in May 2004. His wife, Betty, died on Aug. 5, 2004.

James enjoyed stamp collecting, jig saw puzzles, watching movies, hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife.

While living in Lincoln, James was active in Christ's Place Church. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was also preceded in death by his parents...." 3
