* The transcriber has written "brother-in-law" [of John Sherlock]; however, even though the writing in the original Census is not the best, it seems to say "father-in-law". Besides, Richard's sister Sarah was 20 years older than Sarah who married John Sherlock and born in Canada rather than Pennsylvania.
